I also hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Organisational Psychiatry from The Institute of Psychiatry - Kings College, London where I investigated the relationship between employment and mental health issues.

Chartered Psychologist

About chartership

Together with a first degree and masters in psychology I have had my practice supervised over a three year period by an experienced Supervisory Psychologist and then verified and by a BPS approved Psychologist assessor. In order to retain registration, psychologists must complete a specified number of hours of professional training each year. The minimum training period is a total of 6 years.

All chartered psychologists are professionally insured, and answerable to the British Psychological Society for good practice. Making sure that the psychologist you choose is Chartered (UK) or Registered (USA) is your guarantee that she or he is fully qualified to practice.

Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society

This means I have been engaged in the application, discovery, development and dissemination of psychological knowledge or practice for an aggregate of at least four years full time. This approved title reflects my experience and contribution to the discipline of psychology.

Chartered Scientist

This means I am a professional for whom the knowledge and skills acquired in an accredited scientific training are critical to my job competence. The designation, conferred on behalf of the Science Council, reflects best practice in science and is viewed as a benchmark qualification throughout the science professions in the UK.

I am a Tavistock accredited coach.

In 2009, I completed extensive training in the form of a twelve month 'Executive Coaching Skills Development Programme' with the Tavistock Consultancy Service at The Tavistock Institute, London. This means I have had my coaching practice assessed and I now hold a Tavistock Accredited Certificate in Coaching Skills.

My approach is influenced by this training and my coaching style is informed predominantly by the systems and psychodynamic models of working with organisations whilst also incorporating cognitive behavioural approaches. In addition to this I am trained to use a range of established psychometric measures of personality and cognitive ability.

About Chartership

In the UK the title 'Chartered Psychologist' is legally protected, and can only be used by those who have achieved all the necessary qualifications. To protect the public, The British Psychological Society has been authorised by the Crown to set up and run the Register of Chartered Psychologists.

The title Chartered Psychologist is legally recognised and before admission to the Register individuals must:

  • Have a recognised first degree in psychology.
  • Have recognised postgraduate qualifications, or have undergone approved postgraduate training and supervision have been judged ‘fit to practise’ independently.
  • Have agreed to follow a strict Code of Conduct and be answerable to a disciplinary system, in which non-psychologists form the majority.

  • See: Choosing a psychologist for more information.
